Why we do not publicly list individual attorneys

La Familia Simón Foundation coordinates a nationwide network of independent, licensed attorneys who accept referrals for immigration matters. We intentionally do not identify a single attorney as overseeing or supervising the Foundation, because doing so would misrepresent both the structure of our program and the independence of the legal profession. Instead, cases are assigned to whichever licensed attorney in the network is appropriately positioned to handle them.

Professional independence

Independent licensed attorneys participating in our referral network may, after their own independent evaluation and mutual agreement with the client, undertake legal representation. They are not employees or agents of the Foundation, and the Foundation does not direct, supervise, or influence their legal judgment on any matter. The attorney-client relationship is established directly between the attorney and the client — not with the Foundation. This separation protects the attorney's professional independence and the client's right to independent legal counsel, consistent with rules of professional conduct governing the practice of law.

Conflict-of-interest protection

Because case assignment is administrative rather than personal, the network structure reduces the risk that a single point of contact could create conflicts of interest across cases. Attorneys evaluate each matter independently and are responsible for their own conflict checks under applicable bar rules.

Client confidentiality

Information shared during intake is handled under our organizational confidentiality standards, and information shared with an assigned attorney is protected under attorney-client privilege once that relationship begins. See our Client Rights page for full detail on privacy and confidentiality.

How assignment works

• Jurisdiction. Cases are matched to attorneys licensed and in good standing in the relevant state or federal jurisdiction.
• Case type. Matters are routed based on the specific immigration issue involved — family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, removal defense, and other categories are handled by attorneys with relevant experience.
• Attorney availability. Referrals are made to attorneys with current capacity to take on new matters in a timely manner.
• Licensing verification. The Foundation maintains a process to confirm that referral attorneys hold an active, valid license before they are added to the network.

Quality assurance & professional standards

The Foundation periodically reviews referral outcomes and client feedback to ensure the network continues to reflect high professional standards. Attorneys remain solely responsible for the legal advice and representation they provide; the Foundation's review process is administrative and does not constitute legal supervision.

Ethics & compliance

This model is designed to comply with rules against the unauthorized practice of law and to respect the ethical obligations of independent attorneys, while still giving underserved families a reliable path to licensed legal help.
